My roommates and l have three hamsters,one male and two female that we've been hoping will mate and create a new litter. Now we have already seen the male mate with both females on multiple occasions have noticed that one of the females have become a little fatter than it once was. Is there any way to tell if either of the female are pregnant without going to a vet.
Hamsters have a very short gestation period, therefore by the time u notice that the female is pregnant she will more than likely give birth within a few days.
You need to remove the male from the females, & also separate the females. Hamsters r very likely to eat their young & even more likely to eat different hamsters young. Males will immediately impregnate the female after giving birth & then the females will more than likely eat the babies because the stress.
A few keys r to ensure proper health r proper nutrition. Boil eggs & feed ur females a tiny bit of the whites. This provides really high protein that is essential for making the milk.

check the nipples, if they look 'swollen' she pregnant, by the sounds of it, she is. Hope the litters healthy and cute.
