Do hamsters enjoy being alone or do they like company

Nothing enjoys being alone! Hamsters are very social animals. Althought some may be alright by themselves, having a friend will keep them occupied and happy for the times that you are not able to spend with them. Make sure you get one of the same gender.
i've heard that syrian hamsters can actually kill another hamster if caged together.

it depends on the type of hamster. syrian hamsters should not be housed together but, dwarf hamsters of the same spcies can. if your not sure of the type of hamster you have look at the pictures of hamsters on petwebsite.com i go there all the time for advice.

Hamsters are solitary animals. They do not want or need company.

Dwarfs are supposed to be more social, but mine have always fought.

Syrian, Teddy Bear, and Black Bear hamsters MUST be kept alone.

They are cannabalistic and will fight to the death. I've seen it with my own eyes.

If he is a dwarf hamster, the small ones, you can. But if its a syrian, the bigger ones, than it can not.

I also have one hamster. It ok just to have one, they will be fine. Just provide a good environment for your pet.

Unless it is a dwarf hamster, do not house more than 1 hamster together as they are very soilitary and territorial animals and one of them will eventually end up dead.
